11 Indian fishermen released by Jaffna court

Colombo/New Delhi, March 8 : Eleven Indian fishermen detained in a prison in northern Sri Lanka were released by a court in Jaffna, the Indian High Commission said on Tuesday. It said that the Consulate General of India in Jaffna provided the men with the legal assistance by representing their case in the court. “11 Indian Fishermen detained in Jaffna prison were released by the Kayts Court today. “@CGJaffna provided them with the legal assistance by representing their case in the Court and facilitated their early release,” it said in a tweet. The fishermen were detained by the Sri Lankan navy for allegedly fishing in Sri Lanka’s maritime area.
