Maha DyCM targets Governor in veil attack in front of Modi

Pune, Mar 6 : In a strongly-worded veiled attack on Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s recent statement against Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji and educationalist Savitribai Phule, state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Sunday people in high positions should refrain from making unnecessary statements. Speaking at inaugral function of developmental works here at MIT College in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said a lot of things happened recently. Without taking the name of state Governor, Pawar further said, “Unnecessary statements were made in recent past against Shivaji Maharaj, the highly reverred historical figure of the state. Such statements are neither fair nor suit the culture of Maharashtra.” He said, “It was unfortunate that few people do not even know the contribution of our great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who established the self-governing state of the ryots conceived by Rajmata Jijau, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, who laid the foundation of women’s education in the country.” On this occasion, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on Minister of State Ramdar Athavale, State Ministers Eknath Shinde, Subhash Desai, Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and others were present on the stage.
