Assist SCs to venture into tourism projects: Narayanaswamy

Puducherry, Mar 4 : on Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment A Narayanaswamy on Friday urged the territorial administration to assist Schedule Caste people to avail loans to venture into tourism projects. Briefing reporters after chairing a meeting to review implementation of programmes under his Ministry in the on Territory, Narayanaswami said the tourism sector has got immense possibility for job creation. The Centre was willing to provide credit assistance to SC people for setting up business ventures related to tourism sector. A centre will set up at Pondicherry versity to provide training to SC students aspiring to take up civil service examinations. The centre would be equipped with all facilities to provide training to civil service aspirants from the comm ty. He also agreed to provide more Central assistance in implementation of schemes. “There are certain lacunae in implementation of schemes funded by the Central government, especially those in villages. The Chief Secretary has promised to look into the spending gap. I have also asked the officials to spread more awareness among the people about the Central schemes available for SC and other Backward Classes comm ties,” he said. Narayanaswamy said he had reviewed progress in spending Central funds in around 21 sectors. The Minister agreed to conduct another review meeting after six months. Minister for Home A Namassivayam, Minister for Civil Supplies A K Sai J Saravana Kumar, Chief Secretary Ashwani Kumar and other senior officials also attended the meeting. PAB ACL2000
