6,400 Indians brought back from Ukraine under Op Ganga so far: MEA

New Delhi, Mar 3 : India has brought back 6,400 of its citizens from war-hit Ukraine on board 30 evacuation flights so far as part of Operation Ganga, with 15 of the flights arriving in the last 24 hours, the MEA said on Thursday Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a briefing that since January the total number of Indians who have left Ukraine is 18,000. He said the pace of Operation Ganga continues. “In the last 24 hrs 15 flights have landed bringing back more than 3,000 Indians.” “This takes the total number of flights under Op Ganga to 30, and we have brought back 6,400 Indians,” he added. He said that over the next 24 hours 18 more evacuation flights have been scheduled, including three of the Indian Air Force C17 Globemaster. The rest are commercial flights, including of Air India, IndiGo and GoFirst. Of these seven are to leave from Bucharest, five from Budapest, three from Poland, and the rest from Slovakia and Romania.
