Udaipur : The Under-16 team of Zinc Football Academy have started the new year on the best possible note by convincingly winning the inaugural edition of Elite Youth Cup held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat this week.
Zinc Football Academy –a CSR intervention of Vedanta-Hindustan Zinc Limited, won all their four league matches defeating SESA Football Academy Goa 6-0, ARA FC Gujarat 10-0, Sports Mania Football Academy 7-2 and Sanskardham Sports Academy 7-0 and remained unbeaten at the top of the league table.
Zinc Football Academy players Jangminthang Haokip and Sandeep Marandi were the top scorers in the league scoring six goals each while another player from the Udaipur-based Academy Ashish Mayla was adjudged Player of the Tournament for his outstanding overall display on the pitch.
Tarun Roy, Head Coach, Zinc Football Academy said: “I am proud of the boys for the performance they have exhibited in this tournament.
It was important for us to kick-start the new year on a positive note to gain momentum for the upcoming tournaments and our boys have done exactly that.”
Zinc Football is an initiative of Vedanta-Hindustan Zinc to usher in a footballing revolution in Rajasthan. It is a one-of-its-kind grassroots development programme using football as a tool for social and community development and ensuring young kids have a platform to express themselves through football.
