In a historic people-to-people initiative, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan today inaugurated the historic corridor linking Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab’s Gurdaspur.
The Gurdwara Darbar Sahib is located across the Ravi river in Pakistan and is about four kilometres from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur.
Separate events were organised on both the sides of the border to launch the much-awaited corridor ahead of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th birth anniversary on the 12th of this month.Guru Nanak Dev spent the last 18 years of his life at Kartarpur Sahib, which has now become the world’s largest Sikh Gurdwara.
