Ayodhya case: Central & State govts on alert ahead of SC’s verdict

The focus right now by the Centre and State govts. Apart from several civil society bodies and individuals is to ensure that peace prevails no matter what the decision.

It has led to the Centre issuing an advisory to all states to remain vigilant. The holy city itself has been turned into a fortress and the social media space is being closely watched to guard against hate as well as rumour mongers.

The Centre has asked all states to remain alert ahead of the Supreme Court verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute and ensure security in sensitive areas.

A general advisory has been sent to all states and Union territories asking them to deploy adequate security personnel in all sensitive places and ensure that no untoward incident takes place anywhere in the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has also dispatched around 4,000 paramilitary personnel for security deployment in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Ayodhya. Section 144 has been imposed in most districts of UP.

In addition to civil police, pac and rrf personnel have also been deployed, the ATS too is keeping a watch as are all intelligence agencies. Entry into Ayodhya is being heavily monitored  with check points and barriers

Meanwhile, Ayodhya itself is quiet even as  Karthik purnima celebrations are set to commence amidst tight security. Like every year pilgrims and devotees were seen thronging Prikrama marg.

District authorities across UP have warned against heeding false social media messages and forwarding inflammatory texts.

Meanwhile members of civil society too have appealed for a spirit of calm to be maintained.

It is expected that the Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict in the extremely sensitive ayodhya issue before the 17th of November when the CJI Ranjan Gogoi retires.
