Trailer fall in Mahi river after collision, driver missing

Udaipur : One person is feared missing after a trailer fell in Mahi river of Banswara district on Monday afternoon. The incident happened around 1.15 pm at Geman bridge on the Banswara-Ratlam main road when two trucks coming from opposite directions collided with each other. One of the trailer fell in the river while the other vehicle hit the railing and hung halfway in the air which was later pulled and moved with the help of crane.

Commutation remained obstructed for hours as there was a beeline of vehicles at both the ends. Initially it was speculated that there were two people inside the trailer that fell in the water but later the police confirmed that there was only a driver inside the vehicle when the incident happened. There was no trace of him, neither the body was found till late evening though the rescue teams laid an intense search to find him. There was no one inside the other truck which was found over the railing, police said. Banswara SP Kesar Singh Shekhawat and other officials went to the spot to supervise the rescue operation.

The trailer which fell in the river was going towards Ratlam from Banswara. ” We are not sure about the casualty since no one has been found yet. The situation would be clear only after the investigation” the police officer told media.
