New Delhi, September 1: The kidneys are vital organs in our body. They play a crucial role in filtering blood, removing waste, and maintaining the balance of water and electrolytes. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to kidney health. Regular physical activity and a balanced lifestyle, along with certain yoga practices, can help keep the body active and healthy.
The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga recently shared nine beneficial yoga poses for kidney health on the social media platform X.
Surya Namaskar: This sequence consists of 12 poses. Regular practice improves blood circulation throughout the body. It enhances the flow of oxygenated blood to the kidneys, improving their filtering capacity and facilitating the removal of toxins from the body.
Uttanpadasana: In this pose, you lie on your back and lift both legs together. This position activates the abdominal muscles and organs surrounding the kidneys, strengthening the digestive system and reducing excess pressure on the kidneys.
Trikonasana: This pose stretches the body into a triangular shape. It stimulates the kidneys and adrenal glands, reducing fat accumulation around the kidneys and improving their function.
Setubandhasana: By lying on your back and lifting your waist, this pose applies gentle pressure and stretch to the kidneys. It regulates blood flow to the kidneys and alleviates fatigue and stress, which can negatively impact kidney health. It also helps control high blood pressure, a significant cause of kidney damage.
Katicakrasana: This standing pose involves twisting the waist and is highly beneficial for the kidneys. It massages the abdomen and lower back, activating the kidneys and reducing the likelihood of stone formation.
Dhanurasana: Lying on your stomach and arching your body into a bow shape massages all abdominal organs, including the kidneys. This pose enhances kidney functionality and provides relief from urinary system-related issues.
Vakrasana: This seated twist positively impacts the kidneys and liver. It aids in detoxifying the kidneys and improving their natural functions.
Bhujangasana: Also known as Cobra Pose, this position stretches the abdominal organs, increasing blood circulation to the kidneys and promoting their health.
Ardha Matsyendrasana: This twisting pose is considered the most effective for the kidneys. It stimulates the kidneys and adrenal glands, assisting in the elimination of toxins from the body.
Tending to kidney health through these yoga practices can lead to a more balanced and healthier life.
