5 killed, 41 injured in road accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in UP

Kanpur : Five people were killed and 41 were injured when a sleeper bus carrying passengers from Gorakhpur to Ajmer, Rajasthan, collided with a gravel-laden truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district in the early hours of Sunday. Police rushed to the scene after receiving the information and sent the injured to the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Etawah.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, has conveyed his sympathies to the deceased’s family. He further directed officials to transport the surviving to hospitals and ensure their adequate care. District magistrate Avnish Kumar Rai, SSP Jaiprakash, SDM Jyotsna Bandhu, and circle officer Saifai Nagendra Chaubey also arrived at the scene and supervised the rescue operation.

The remains were sent to the morgue of the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences.

All of the injured have been taken to the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences’ emergency trauma facility, where they are being treated. We have informed the families of the injured and killed,” Nagendra Chaubey, a circle officer, stated.

The bus collided with the truck between channels 103 and 104 of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. After three hours of work, the bus and truck were separated using cranes, allowing the injured trapped inside to be extracted and transported to the hospital.
