Jaipur : Jaipur witnessed an enthralling and enthusiastic support during the Durand Cup Football Tournament Trophy tour from 29 to 30 July 22. The trophy tour as part of 131st Edition of Durand Cup is being conducted under the aegis of HQ Eastern Command at Kolkata from 06 Aug to 18 Sep 2022.
The tour of trophies namely President Cup, Durand Cup and Shimla Cup was aimed to enhance awareness about sports especially football, increasing sports culture and empowering sports eco system in our nation. The trophy tour is taking place in three other cities – Guwahati, Imphal and Margao. In Jaipur, the trophies were taken to schools, regional clubs and football academies.
In addition the trophies were displayed at Gandiv Stadium in the Jaipur Military Station for Armd Forces personnel, their families and students of various schools. Brigadier Jitendra Singh Bisht, Deputy General Officer Commanding, 61 Sub Area, Jaipur flagged of the ‘Trophy Tour’ for the Jaipur city which culminated at World Trade Park for the display for public and masses. The importance of sports in our lives and was reiterated and the offr expressed that it’s a matter of pride for Indian Army to be associated with and host the prestigious football championship, the Durand Cup 2022.
