Western Disturbance Intensifies Cold in Rajasthan, Rain Likely in Several Districts Today
Jaipur, February 20 The impact of a Western Disturbance has once again altered weather conditions across Rajasthan, bringing strong winds, light rainfall, and a significant drop in temperature across multiple regions. On Wednesday, districts under the Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur divisions witnessed sudden weather fluctuations, leading to cooler temperatures and overcast skies.
Several areas, including Bikaner, Churu, and Sikar, experienced strong dust storms, while Jaipur recorded light drizzles late at night. The sudden weather shift has increased cold conditions, prompting residents to brace for a chilly spell.

Unstable Weather Continues, More Rain Expected Today
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the influence of the Western Disturbance is likely to persist on Thursday, bringing cloudy skies and light rainfall to districts under the Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions.
On Wednesday afternoon, the skies remained clear, but by evening, strong winds swept across Bikaner, Ganganagar, and Jaisalmer, followed by light showers in several districts. Rain was recorded in Bikaner, Phalodi, Churu, Sikar, Sriganganagar, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, and Alwar, while hailstorms hit parts of Jhunjhunu’s Udaipurwati.
Storm Damage and Temperature Drop
The dust storm in Bikaner caused damage in several areas, uprooting trees and electricity poles and damaging tin roofs of houses. Jaipur also recorded evening drizzles, leading to a drop in night temperatures.
Temperature Highlights Across Rajasthan:
- Jaipur: Maximum temperature at 28.5°C
- Jalore: Hottest location in the state at 34.3°C
- Other Districts: Barmer, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, Dholpur, Phalodi, Dungarpur, Dausa, Nagaur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, and Ajmer reported temperatures between 29°C and 34°C.
Weather Forecast: Clear Skies from February 21
As per IMD forecasts, overcast skies and isolated light rainfall are expected in Bikaner and Bharatpur divisions today, while Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bharatpur, and Dholpur may witness cloudy conditions.
By February 21, weather conditions are expected to stabilize, with clear skies and rising temperatures across the state. However, residents should remain cautious of sudden temperature drops at night due to lingering effects of the cold front.
