Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Kite Festival 2026 today, January 12, at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.

Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz attended the International Kite Festival at Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad, scheduled for January 12-14, 2026.

Leaders enjoyed colorful kites at the Patang Mahotsav on the Sabarmati Riverfront, donning vibrant glasses and flying kites featuring the Statue of Unity and Birmingham Wall designs.

The International Kite Festival 2026 features 1,071 kite enthusiasts showcasing various large kites by national and international participants.

A total of 135 international kite flyers from 50 countries, along with 65 participants from 13 Indian states and 871 from 16 districts in Gujarat, are set to participate.

At the Sabarmati Riverfront Kite Festival, leaders enjoyed colorful kites, donning vibrant glasses and flying those designed with the Statue of Unity and the Berlin Wall.
