Varanasi, May 7, 2025 The weather across Uttar Pradesh continues to shift rapidly, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a rain alert for 39 districts today. Several areas, including Lucknow and nine other districts, woke up to overcast skies and cool breezes, hinting at more showers ahead.

According to senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, the impact of the Western Disturbance and associated weather system is gradually weakening. Consequently, barring some parts of the Terai, Bundelkhand, and western regions, the maximum temperatures across most parts of the state are expected to rise by 3°C to 5°C over the next five to six days.

-
In Haldharpur (Mau), three people died due to lightning strikes.
-
In Aligarh, a woman tragically lost her life after being hit by a tin shed while trying to save a child during a severe dust storm.

He has instructed:
-
Immediate surveys of affected areas
-
Timely disbursement of relief funds to families of the deceased and injured
-
Swift medical aid to the wounded
-

Why the Weather Changed: Meteorological Insight
Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh explained the science behind the sudden weather shift:
-
A dry line is currently active over south-western Rajasthan, stretching all the way to Kerala.
-
A powerful Western Disturbance is also influencing atmospheric conditions.
-
Additionally, moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal are clashing with south-westerly winds, triggering rainfall, cloud formation, and storms across the state.
As a result, Uttar Pradesh is experiencing cloudy conditions, isolated thunderstorms, and scattered rainfall, with more changes expected in the days ahead.
