Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Swift Action Leads to Arrest
Jaipur, January 30 In a decisive operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Banswara unit arrested Village Development Officer (VDO) Prabhulal Pargi red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹16,000. The officer was demanding a total of ₹25,000 for processing a salary bill, exploiting a security guard who had not received wages for five months.
Bribe Demanded for Salary Processing
According to Dr. Ravi Prakash Meharda, Director General of Police (DGP), Anti-Corruption Bureau, the ACB received a complaint regarding the corrupt practices of Prabhulal Pargi. The complainant’s father was employed as a security guard at Atal Seva Kendra, Bhapor, under a contract, but had been denied salary for five months.
When the complainant approached the Village Development Officer for the pending salary bill, Pargi demanded a ₹25,000 bribe in exchange for processing the payment. The complainant, facing financial distress and harassment, reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Trap Laid by ACB: Officer Caught in the Act
On January 20, the ACB conducted a verification process, during which the accused agreed to accept ₹20,000 as a bribe. During the verification process, he also accepted ₹4,000 as an advance.
Following the confirmation of demand and partial acceptance, a special team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rishikesh Meena was formed. In a well-coordinated trap operation, the ACB team caught Prabhulal Pargi red-handed while accepting the remaining ₹16,000 in bribe money.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Following the successful trap operation, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused. Further investigation is ongoing to establish additional evidence and identify any other potential corrupt practices linked to the officer.
