UP: Three killed, 5 injured in road accident

Kanpur Dehat, April 13 : Three persons were killed while five others injured when a pick-up van collided with a truck in Akbarpur area on Etawah-Kanpur highway, police said on Wednesday. According to the police the incident occurred late last night when the pick-van in which farmers and workers were travelling collided with a stationary truck near Bihari village. “Ramji (40), a resident of Gajaniapur in Etawah district, Shyam (30) and Shiv Kumar (50) were killed in the accident,” it said. Police said that Jagveer (23), Kunwar Singh (40), Brij Kishore (35), Kishan (40) and Mahtab (42) were injured in the accident and were admitted to the district hospital. “Mahtab and Kishan, who sustained serious injuries, were later referred to Kanpur,” it said. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the death of three farmers in the accident. He has expressed his sympathies towards the bereaved families and has directed the officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured. XC AB ACL1204
