TRAI Voice-Only Plans : Jio, Airtel, Vi Launch Voice-Only Plans to Ease Consumer Costs

In a move to make mobile connectivity more affordable, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has mandated telecom operators to introduce voice-only plans, providing relief to millions of users who don’t require expensive data services. In response, leading telecom players Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have launched cost-effective voice-only plans, enabling customers to pay only for the services they need.

Jio has rolled out two economical voice-only options:

  • ₹458 Plan: Offers 84 days of validity, unlimited calling across all networks, and 1,000 free SMS.
  • ₹1,958 Plan: A yearly plan providing 365 days of validity, unlimited calling, and 3,600 free SMS.

These plans are designed for customers seeking uninterrupted calling services without the burden of data charges.

Airtel’s Voice-Only Plans

Airtel introduced two competitive voice-only plans:

  • ₹509 Plan: Includes 84 days of validity, unlimited calling across networks, and 900 free SMS.
  • ₹1,999 Plan: A 365-day plan featuring unlimited calls and 3,600 free SMS, offering long-term convenience to users.

These plans cater to Airtel’s customer base looking for affordable voice services without additional data.

Vi’s Voice-Only Offering

Vodafone Idea has launched a single voice-only plan:

  • ₹1,460 Plan: Provides 270 days of validity, unlimited calling, and 100 free SMS per day.

This offering positions Vi as a competitive player in the voice-only segment, targeting customers seeking simplicity and affordability.
