Stormy Weather to Persist in Madhya Pradesh Until May 7; Alert Issued in 45 Districts Including Bhopal and Indore

Cyclonic Systems and Troughs Bring Unseasonal Rain, Dust Storms Across the State

Bhopal, May 4 Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a dramatic shift in weather conditions, with the state currently experiencing a mix of intense heat, rain, thunderstorms, and even hail in several regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has attributed this volatility to three active cyclonic circulation systems and two trough lines influencing central India’s atmospheric patterns.

On Saturday, Bhopal was hit by a dust storm, while multiple districts reported rainfall accompanied by hail. Similar weather is forecast for Sunday, with alerts issued for 45 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur.

Wind Speeds May Reach 60 km/h; Severe Weather Likely Until May 7

According to IMD officials, the combination of active cyclonic circulations and troughs is expected to keep the weather unsettled across Madhya Pradesh through May 7. Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are likely to lash various parts of the state. In Bhopal, dust-laden winds are expected to continue, potentially reducing visibility and impacting daily life.

On Saturday, the state experienced a weather paradox — regions battled both extreme heat and sudden showers. Localized hailstorms were also reported in select districts, adding to the unusual nature of the current weather pattern.

Temperature Extremes Continue: Narsinghpur Hottest at 43.8°C

Despite intermittent showers, intense heat persists across large parts of the state. Narsinghpur recorded the highest daytime temperature at 43.8°C, followed by Ratlam at 43.4°C, Khargone at 42.6°C, Shajapur at 42.4°C, and Khandwa at 42.1°C. Bhopal registered a high of 41.1°C, Indore 40.8°C, Ujjain 41.4°C, and Jabalpur 38.9°C.

Gwalior saw a relatively milder 34.1°C, while Pachmarhi remained the coolest spot at 35°C. Cities like Seoni, Chhindwara, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Raisen, and Shivpuri also recorded a slight drop in temperatures due to sporadic rain activity.

Residents across Madhya Pradesh are advised to stay alert for further IMD updates and take precautions against high winds and potential storm damage.
