Saif Ali Khan Attack Case: Forensic Expert Challenges Knife Wound Claim

Mumbai, January 2025: In a dramatic twist to the Saif Ali Khan attack case, forensic expert Professor Dinesh Rao has raised questions about the nature of the injuries described in the medico-legal report. Rao claims the injuries reported by Lilavati Hospital do not align with those typically caused by a knife, suggesting instead that they were inflicted by a blunt object.

Forensic Discrepancies Emerge

Speaking to a news channel, Professor Rao stated, “The injuries mentioned in Dr. Bhargavi Patil’s signed report do not resemble wounds caused by a sharp-edged weapon like a knife. The pattern of the wounds suggests they were caused by a blunt object.”

This assertion directly contradicts the hospital’s earlier claim that a 2.5-inch piece of knife was surgically removed from Saif Ali Khan’s spine. The hospital had even released images of the alleged knife fragment, which circulated widely on social media.

Conflicting Accounts Deepen the Mystery

Adding to the confusion, a staff nurse residing in Saif Ali Khan’s penthouse was the first to report the intrusion. In her statement, she described the attacker, Shariful Islam, as carrying a stick-like object and a metal-cutting saw, not a knife.

However, Mumbai Police reported finding the remaining part of the knife in Saif’s home, allegedly left behind by Shariful during his escape. This evidence initially appeared to corroborate the hospital’s version but is now under scrutiny following Professor Rao’s findings.

No Reaction Yet from Lilavati Hospital

Lilavati Hospital, which conducted the medico-legal examination and treated Saif Ali Khan, has yet to comment on Professor Rao’s claims. The hospital’s earlier assertion that the knife fragment was recovered and matched the injuries remains a key point in the investigation.

Police Investigations Ongoing

Mumbai Police have identified the attacker as Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national who illegally crossed the border into India. According to authorities, Shariful attempted the burglary due to a sudden need for money to return to Bangladesh. His decision to target Saif Ali Khan’s home led to the violent confrontation that has since garnered significant media attention.

What’s Next?

As conflicting forensic opinions emerge, the case has taken a more complex turn. The absence of a clear narrative around the weapon used has left both investigators and the public demanding clarity. While Professor Rao’s claims have cast doubt on the official account, it remains to be seen whether the hospital or police will address these discrepancies.
