Nainital : Retired Colonel Dr Girja Shankar Mungali from Nainital, currently residing in Pune, para jumped from a plane from a height of 1600 feet, a rare feat.
He para jumped from an aircraft from 1600 at during Parachute Brigade Festival ‘Reunion 2022’, in which 35 other people were also involved, but he was the most successful of them.
Col Mungali was the head of the Adventure Department of the Indian Army. He has been involved in several adventure expeditions including joint rafting expeditions between India and Bangladesh and mountaineering expiditions to several high peaks in the Himalayas.
A doctor of philosphy, he is also a member of the task force of the Asian Football Confederation.
