Jaipur, May 9, 2025 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for thunderstorms and rainfall in 22 districts of Rajasthan for Thursday, following intense downpours across several parts of the state on Wednesday. Dungarpur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur witnessed the heaviest rainfall, with Dungarpur’s Sagwara receiving nearly 5 inches (121 mm) of rain in the past 24 hours.

Cities Affected by Wednesday’s Rainfall

Due to cloud cover and rainfall, daytime temperatures across many districts dropped, providing relief from ongoing heat conditions. Key districts affected included:

  • Jodhpur, Udaipur, Sirohi, Dungarpur, Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Tonk and others.

  • Strong winds and scattered rain were reported in Jodhpur and Sirohi, especially during the afternoon hours.

  • Udaipur division witnessed heavy late-night rain on Tuesday, with 1 to 5 inches of accumulation in some regions.

The IMD forecasts thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching up to 40–60 km/h, occasional lightning, and moderate rainfall. This pattern is likely to continue for the next 24–48 hours, especially in southern and southeastern Rajasthan.
