Rajasthan Shivers After Rainfall, No Respite from Cold Until January 31
Jaipur, January 17 Rajasthan continues to grapple with biting cold following recent mavath (unseasonal rainfall). According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), another weather system is expected to become active in the state from January 22, which could bring rainfall to northeastern districts. Relief from the cold, however, is unlikely until January 31.
The Jaipur Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in 24 districts and cold wave conditions in four districts. Over the past 24 hours, light clouds and mist blanketed parts of Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions, limiting sunshine and causing daytime temperatures to dip.
Cold Wave Grips Rajasthan
The cold intensified in Jaipur following rainfall on Wednesday. On Thursday, the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 19.2°C, with chilly winds adding to the discomfort. Foggy conditions are expected to persist, and experts anticipate further drops in day and night temperatures, exacerbating the cold wave across the state.
In northern and eastern Rajasthan, icy winds caused significant declines in temperatures, with the coldest locations being Ganganagar and Hanumangarh.
