Rajasthan Cold Weather Forecast : Cold Wave Intensifies in Rajasthan After Rainfall, Daytime Temperatures Drop by Up to 6°C
Jaipur, January 24 : Rajasthan is experiencing a sharp increase in cold conditions following recent rainfall. Cities in northeastern Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Sikar, and Churu, saw maximum daytime temperatures drop by up to 6°C as cold winds swept across the state starting Thursday afternoon.
The Meteorological Department in Jaipur has predicted a further dip in temperatures, with colder conditions expected to persist until January 26. Although the skies are forecast to remain clear during the day, the biting cold is likely to intensify due to frigid winds blowing in from the north.
Notable Temperature Drops Across Cities
The influx of cold northern winds caused a significant dip in temperatures across several districts. Major cities, including Karauli, Baran, Dholpur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, and Bhilwara, recorded a 3-6°C drop in maximum daytime temperatures.
Key temperature readings from Thursday include:
- Jaipur: 24.7°C
- Ajmer: 24.5°C
- Kota: 23.1°C
- Barmer: 26.7°C
- Udaipur: 24.8°C
- Jodhpur: 25.2°C
- Bikaner: 23.4°C
Despite the widespread dip, Dungarpur recorded the highest daytime temperature in the state at 27°C.
Cold Winds and Increased Chill in Northeastern Rajasthan
The impact of the cold wave was particularly severe in Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu, where strong cold winds by late evening heightened the chill, leaving residents shivering.
Meteorological Forecast for the Coming Days
The Jaipur Meteorological Center has forecast dry weather across the state over the next four days, with the cold wave continuing to impact temperatures. The following key trends are expected:
- Further Temperature Drops: Daytime and nighttime temperatures may decrease by 2-3°C, making mornings and evenings even colder.
- Relief from January 28: The influence of northerly winds is expected to diminish by January 28-29, with westerly winds taking over. This shift is likely to lead to a gradual increase in temperatures, offering some respite from the current cold spell.
Cold Wave Advisory
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the cold, particularly in regions experiencing sharp drops in temperature. Morning and evening hours are expected to be particularly chilly, and vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly, should stay adequately covered.
Farmers are also advised to safeguard crops against potential frost, which may occur in select regions experiencing extreme cold.
