At 4.38 am, Delhi’s air quality index was recorded at 438. The AQI at Alipur, Narela and Bawana were registered at 493, 486 and 472 respectively. The over all air quality index in Delhi stand around 350.
Odd-even vehicle scheme comes into force in Delhi
The odd-even scheme came into force in the national capital today to tackle the severe air pollution. The scheme restrictions will be applicable from 8am to 8pm and will continue till November 15.
However, it is not applicable on two-wheelers, vehicles being used for medical emergencies, for women and vehicles carrying school children and electric vehicles.
As many as 2,000 additional buses are pressed into service to tackle the rush during the period. All cluster buses have also been deployed along with the entire fleet of DTC buses to cater the commuters.
Further to facilitate people, nearly 200 teams of the Delhi Traffic Police have been deployed to ensure rules are being followed, and around 5,000 civil defence volunteers are working to raise awareness on pollution.
