PM Modi speaks with Israeli PM, discusses Ukraine, bilateral cooperation

New Delhi/Jerusalem, April 4 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke on the phone with Israeli PM Naftali Bennett and enquired after his health, after the latter was forced to postpone his trip to India after testing positive for Covid. The two leaders discussed recent global developments, including the situation in Ukraine and the Iranian nuclear issue, and said they looked forward to an early meeting. The PM said in a tweet: “Was happy to speak with PM @naftalibennett and to know that he is recovering well. We discussed recent global events, and also reviewed India-Israel cooperation in various areas. “I look forward to welcoming him in India very soon to continue our discussions.” The Israeli PM in a tweet replied: “It was great speaking to you my friend, @NarendraModi ”I look forward to seeing you soon!” The Israeli PM had to postpone his trip to India, that was scheduled from April 3-5, after testing positive for the coronavirus. According to a statement from the Israeli PM’s office, Bennett thanked Modi for condemning the recent deadly terror attacks in Israel. The two also discussed “global and regional issues, including the Iranian nuclear issue,” the statement said. The two also agreed to work on finding an alternative date for Bennett’s trip, which was scheduled to highlight 30 years of the establishment of bilateral ties.An Indian readout of the phone call said that Modi conveyed his best wishes to Bennett for early recovery after his COVID-19 diagnosis. “He also expressed his condolences for the loss of lives in the recent terrorist attacks in Israel. “The leaders had a detailed discussion on recent geo-political developments, including the situation in Ukraine.
