Rajouri, February 23: An old grenade was found near a village in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, causing a stir among locals. Following reports from villagers, local police and military personnel arrived at the scene to secure the grenade and initiate an investigation.

Shamsher Singh, a resident of Dhariyala, was cutting grass for livestock when he spotted the suspicious object. He promptly alerted the villagers and the police. Upon arrival, security forces identified the object as an old, rusted grenade, which was safely taken into custody. Meanwhile, onlookers gathered to view the grenade.

Authorities expect the recovered explosive to be defused following standard safety procedures. Relevant officials are conducting necessary follow-up actions. However, it remains unclear how old the grenade is and how it ended up in the forest. The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing.

On February 19, Rajouri police and the 54th National Rifles (Romeo Force) dismantled a terrorist module, arresting Sachin Kumar, alias Pamma, a collaborator from the Sehar area of Nowshera. Following his arrest, a search revealed a Tisas Zigana 9mm pistol (manufactured in Turkey), a TT-30 Norinco pistol (made in China), and 15 cartridges.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Sachin was in direct contact with operatives involved in drug trafficking and terrorism across the border in Pakistan. A case has been registered against the accused at the Nowshera police station, and the police are continuing their investigation.
