Morning and Evening Chill Persists in Jharkhand Despite Slight Relief from Cold
Ranchi, January 23: While Jharkhand is experiencing a slight reprieve from severe cold, chilly winds in the morning and evening continue to trouble residents across the state.
Fog Likely in Several Districts
According to the Meteorological Department, foggy conditions are expected in districts such as Koderma, Chatra, Garhwa, Latehar, Lohardaga, and Palamu on Thursday. For other parts of the state, clear skies will prevail. These foggy conditions are likely to persist from January 23 to January 29.
Temperature Updates Across Key Cities
The Meteorological Centre in Ranchi reported the following temperatures over the past 24 hours:
- Ranchi: Maximum temperature of 28.8°C and minimum of 12.0°C
- Jamshedpur: Maximum temperature of 30.9°C and minimum of 12.0°C
- Daltonganj: Maximum temperature of 30.7°C and minimum of 11.8°C
- Bokaro: Maximum temperature of 28.1°C and minimum of 11.2°C
Extremes in Temperature Recorded
Speaking on the weather trends, Ranchi Meteorological Centre scientist Abhishek Anand highlighted that the lowest minimum temperature in the state, 7.8°C, was recorded in Gumla, while the highest maximum temperature, 33.8°C, was observed in Chaibasa over the past 24 hours.
The overall weather conditions have remained dry across the state, with only mild fog observed in certain areas.

Residents can expect continued chilly mornings and evenings, with fog affecting visibility in some regions. The dry weather is likely to persist, providing a mix of cool nights and pleasant days across most parts of the state.
