
Kolkata, May 19: Mohammedan Sporting Club clinched the title of the CAB Women’s Club Cricket League One-Day Tournament by defeating Mohun Bagan AC by 52 runs in the final match held at the 22 Yards Sports School Ground on Tuesday.
In the final, Mohammedan Sporting Club batted first, scoring 153 runs in 43.2 overs. Preeti Mandal was the top scorer for Mohammedan, contributing 27 runs off 45 balls. Meeta Paul also made a notable contribution, scoring 26 runs off 42 balls.
Mohun Bagan’s bowlers, Saika Ishaq and Roopal Tiwari, delivered impressive performances. Saika took 4 wickets for just 20 runs in 8 overs, while Roopal claimed 3 wickets for 18 runs in 9 overs.
Chasing a target of 154 runs, Mohun Bagan’s batting lineup faltered, collapsing to 101 runs in 31 overs, resulting in a significant loss. Despite Saika Ishaq and Roopal Tiwari’s efforts with the bat—33 runs off 30 balls and 23 runs off 38 balls respectively—no other batsman could make a substantial impact.
Mohammedan Sporting’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Remondina Khatun, Pappriya Das, and Meeta Paul, who all exhibited remarkable skills. Remondina took 3 wickets for 23 runs in 8 overs, Pappriya claimed 3 wickets for 16 runs in 5 overs, and Meeta also took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 7 overs.
Meeta Paul’s all-round performance was pivotal in securing the championship for Mohammedan Sporting Club, as her strong bowling turned the match in their favor.
