Mahakumbh Nagar, January 29 : The spiritual fervor of Mouni Amavasya has engulfed Prayagraj Mahakumbh, as millions of devotees throng the sacred city for the auspicious ‘Amrit Snan’ (nectar bath). The entire Kumbh Mela grounds are resounding with chants of faith, while the holy confluence at Sangam witnesses an overwhelming surge of pilgrims immersed in devotion.

By 8 AM today, a staggering 2.78 crore devotees had taken the sacred dip, including 10 lakh Kalpvasis who have been residing on the riverbanks for spiritual discipline and penance.

Devotees Swarm Routes to Triveni Sangam

Thousands of devotees are continuously making their way towards the Triveni Sangam, while many, after completing their holy bath, are heading back to their destinations. Free community kitchens (langars) have been set up at various locations to serve the visiting pilgrims.

Traffic & Crowd Management Measures

Given the unprecedented rush, the Kumbh administration has issued an advisory:

  • Police have urged pilgrims to avoid bringing two-wheelers into the city.
  • All parking lots in urban areas are already full.
  • Four-wheelers arriving from outside Prayagraj are being stopped at designated entry points outside the city.

CM Yogi Adityanath Appeals for Crowd Discipline

Observing the increasing footfall, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to devotees to bathe at the nearest available ghats instead of heading towards the Sangam Nose, ensuring smooth crowd management. He also urged everyone to strictly follow the directives of the Kumbh administration for a safe and orderly experience.

Saints and Spiritual Leaders Urge Devotees to Maintain Order

Swami Avdheshanand Giri (Juna Peethadhishwar)

Given the massive turnout, Swami Avdheshanand Giri, the Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhada, appealed to devotees:
“Wherever you find space, take the Amrit Snan (holy bath). Today’s grand procession has been postponed due to the overwhelming crowd. May the divine bless all!”

Swami Ramabhadracharya

The revered saint Swami Ramabhadracharya urged pilgrims to:
“Refrain from insisting on bathing at the Sangam itself and instead perform your sacred rituals at the nearest ghats. For your safety, it is advisable to stay within your designated camps.”

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev

With crores of devotees in attendance, Baba Ramdev issued an appeal:
“Let us not get carried away in the intensity of devotion. Maintain self-discipline and be extremely cautious while taking the holy dip.”

Swami Harigiri Maharaj (Juna Akhada)

The guardian of Juna Akhada, Swami Harigiri Maharaj, reassured devotees that bathing at any ghat in Prayagraj grants the same merit as a dip in the Sangam.
