Lady sarpanch, hubby trapped for taking 1L bribe in Chittorgarh

Udaipur : The Anti-Corruption sleuths arrested on friday, a woman sarpanch and her husband- an ex-sarpanch for accepting one lakh rupees bribe against transfer and conversion of an agricultural piece of land in Bagund village under Bhadesar panchayat samiti of Chittorgarh district.

The ACB team in Udaipur had received a complaint from one BheruSingh who claimed that he had one beegha of agricultural land at Bagund and he wanted to convert it for residential purpose. He approached the Sarpanch Samri Devi who said that she would sign the required documents however she asked the complainant to meet her husband Bhairon Singh whom she said dealt with the money matters. ” The complainant met the sarpanch’s husband who said that the conversion process would be initiated if he paid 2 lakh rupees to them. The deal was finally struck for one lakh and after verification of the complaint, the ACB laid the net to trap the couple” DySP Rajiv Joshi told Udaipur Kiran.

On Friday, BheruSIngh went to Bhadsoda circle where he had asked the Sarpanch’s husband to come to collect the bribe amount. When the accused arrived and took the bribe money, the ACB team nabbed him while another team arrested Samri devi and took both of them to Mangalwad police station.
