The
Jharkhand Government’s Maiya Samman Yojana, launched by the Hemant Soren-led administration, is proving to be a crucial financial support system for the state’s women. Designed to
empower economically weaker women, the scheme promises
₹2,500 per month directly to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
However, despite the increase in financial assistance from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 following the JMM’s return to power, many eligible women are still not receiving their monthly installments. The reason? Incomplete documentation and pending verification.
What Is Maiya Samman Yojana?
The Maiya Samman Yojana is a state-run welfare scheme that aims to uplift underprivileged women by offering regular financial aid. Initially launched with a ₹1,000 monthly benefit, the scheme was revised after the 2024 elections to increase the amount to ₹2,500, bringing substantial relief to thousands of women across the state.
This scheme supports widows, single mothers, and financially struggling women who lack a stable income source.
Why Some Women Haven’t Received Their Money
Despite being enrolled, many beneficiaries have reported that their monthly installments are stuck. According to the Jharkhand government, there are two primary reasons behind the delay:
-
Aadhaar not linked to bank account
Many women have yet to link their bank accounts with their Aadhaar numbers, which is essential for DBT-based schemes. Without this, funds cannot be transferred.
-
Pending beneficiary verification
Several women have not completed the required verification process for the scheme. Verification ensures that the recipient’s data is accurate and the support reaches the right individuals.
How to Resolve the Issue
To receive pending payments and ensure future installments arrive on time, beneficiaries must complete the following two steps:
1. Link Aadhaar with Bank Account
-
Visit your nearest bank branch with your Aadhaar card and passbook.
-
Alternatively, use your bank’s online portal or app, if available, to complete the linking process.
2. Complete Scheme Verification
-
Visit your local Anganwadi center or contact the Anganwadi worker.
-
Collect and fill out the verification form.
-
Submit the form with the required documents for approval.
Once both steps are completed, the government will resume DBT transfers. However, it remains unclear whether the pending installments will be paid in a lump sum or disbursed monthly. As of now, the April 2025 installment has been credited to verified accounts.
A Step Toward Women’s Economic Independence
The Maiya Samman Yojana reflects the Jharkhand government’s ongoing efforts to promote women’s empowerment and ensure financial inclusion. With timely documentation and verification, thousands more women could benefit from this initiative and reduce their dependence on others for daily expenses.
Women facing issues with enrollment or payment are advised to visit their nearest government service center or Anganwadi for assistance and updates.
