Sana’a/Beirut, May 6 — In a sharp military retaliation to recent missile attacks by Houthi rebels on its airport, Israel’s Air Force carried out precision airstrikes on Houthi strongholds in Yemen and Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the operations on their official social media handle, stating the strikes were aimed at disrupting enemy capabilities and supply chains.

Airstrikes Target Houthi Infrastructure in Yemen
According to IDF sources, Israeli fighter jets targeted the port city of Hodeidah on Yemen’s western coast. This location is reportedly used by the Iran-backed Houthi militia for receiving military-grade weapons and equipment.
One of the key sites targeted was the Bazil Concrete Plant, located east of Al-Hodeidah. Intelligence suggests the facility played a role in assisting the Houthis in constructing an extensive network of underground tunnels, essential for their covert operations and strategic movement of arms.
The port of Hodeidah has long been under scrutiny as a logistics and supply hub for the Houthis, with alleged links to arms smuggling routes connected to Iran.
Precision Strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley
In a simultaneous operation, Israeli airstrikes were also conducted in Lebanon’s Beqaa region, targeting Hezbollah’s weapons manufacturing and storage facilities. The IDF stated that the strikes were conducted with high accuracy, destroying critical infrastructure believed to be used in the assembly and concealment of advanced weaponry.
Additionally, IDF confirmed a strike in the Sharifah area, where key Hezbollah logistics and operational infrastructure were “severely damaged.” The move is seen as a deterrent amid rising regional tensions and follows multiple skirmishes along the Israel-Lebanon border in recent weeks.
Strategic Shift in Response to Cross-Border Attacks
These coordinated strikes underscore a significant escalation in Israel’s regional military posture, responding not just defensively but with proactive targeting of strategic enemy assets. The IDF emphasized that these actions were in direct response to attacks threatening Israeli sovereignty, particularly the recent missile strike on an Israeli airport.
Security analysts believe the strikes are a warning to Iran-backed proxies across the region, signaling that Israeli airpower will continue targeting cross-border threats at their source.
