India Strengthens Ties with U.S. on Semiconductor Manufacturing

New Delhi, February 9: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met with U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gore on Monday to discuss semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, as well as supply chains.

On the social media platform X, Vaishnaw shared, “My meeting with U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gore was very productive. We focused on strengthening our strategic relations and enhancing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing and supply chains.”

He also expressed optimism about a strong partnership at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in the U.S.

Earlier in February, the Ministry of Electronics and IT announced that over 35,000 registrations have been received for the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The event will feature more than 500 startups from over 100 countries participating in 500 sessions.

According to a statement from the ministry, the India AI Impact Summit, scheduled for February 16-20, 2026, in New Delhi, is expected to be the largest of the four global AI summits held to date. It reflects the growing international momentum around responsible, inclusive, and impact-driven artificial intelligence.

The statement further noted that the summit has attracted unprecedented interest, with over 35,000 registrations from countries worldwide. It will prioritize implementing the vision, focusing on tangible outcomes that matter on the ground.

Governments, industry leaders, researchers, civil society organizations, and international institutions will actively participate in shaping the summit’s agenda. The event is expected to see participation from over 100 countries, including 15 to 20 heads of state, more than 50 ministers from various nations, and over 40 CEOs from global and Indian companies.
