Inspirational Indian captain Sunil Chhetri led the home side to Intercontinental football Cup title triumph with a 2-0 win over Kenya in the summit clash in Mumbai on Sunday.
Playing in his 102nd international match, Chhetri struck in the eighth and 29th minutes to hand a dominant India the trophy to the wild celebration of the home fans at the Mumbai Football Arena.
With this win, skipper Sunil Chhetri also equaled Lionel Messi’s tally of 64 international goals. In the list of active international goalscorers, the 32-year-old is now only behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo who has netted the ball 81 times in 124 appearances.
