The test kit has been developed at a cost of Rs 550 each and the Institute has said that it can be further lowered in case of mass production.
It is also being claimed that the kit is easy to carry and can be taken to remote parts of the country.
IIT-Hyderabad has already applied to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for necessary approval of the test kit.
