HRD Minister: New Education Policy to bring reform in higher education

Speaking exclusively to DD News, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that till now 60 thousand suggestions have been received from various stakeholders on the New Education Policy.

The committee for draft National Education Policy headed by former ISRO chairman K Kasturirangan submitted its report to the HRD Ministry on May 31.

The Union Minister also said that all the vacant faculty positions in central higher-education institutions will be filled in the next 6 months while stressing upon the need to make the education system of the country job-oriented so that it can benefit the young generation and also help them in getting better employment.

Born in Uttar Pradesh’s Pinnani village (now in Uttarakhand), Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is an Arts graduate of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand and also holds PhD and D.Litt.

He became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in 2009 and post the formation of the state in 2000.

The HRD Minister has written novels, stories and poems. He has authored over 50 books in Hindi literature. Some of his literary works have been translated to English as well as other Indian languages
