Hindustan Zinc’s Krishi Seva Kendra helping farmers to improve their livelihood

Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, organised Krishi Seva Kendra (Farmer Producer Organization’s shop) as part of its flagship Samadhan. The programme was inaugurated by Mr Tara Chand Meena, District Collector of Udaipur at Zawar. He also inaugurated the infrastructural work that was carried out by Hindustan Zinc.

Zawar Mata Agri Farmer Producer Company Limited invited Tara Chand Meena, District Collector and other government officials including Dr Sudhir Kumar Verma – Deputy Director of Agriculture department; Dr K N Singh – Deputy Director Horticulture; Dr Bhardwaj – Deputy Director Livestock; Surender Vedia – Chief Program manager BAIF; LR – Chief Program Executive; Vinod Kumar – CEO IBU ZAWAR; Anupam Nidhi – Hindustan Zinc CSR Head; Lalu Ram Ji – Maha Mantri Zawar Mines mazdoor sang; Naga Ram Ji – karyawahikadhyakshZawar Mines Mazdoor as the chief guests for the inauguration ceremony.

Apart from the Zawar Mata FPO (Farmer Producer Organization’s shop), Samadhan is currently operating in 12 villages with 740 shareholders (40 per cent women) and 37 FIGs (Farmer Interest Groups). Samadhan and Hindustan Zinc CSR have established FPOs in Zawar, Debari, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh and Bhilwara. Through FPO shops, Hindustan Zinc’s Samadhan programme distributed market crop seeds, fertilisers, insecticides, and pesticides to Samadhan farmer beneficiaries based on demand from respective FPO shareholders.

Samadhan,a Hindustan Zinc’s flagship CSR project, focuses on sustainable agricultural and livestock interventions through community participation and making agriculture aspirational. Furthermore, Hindustan Zinc’s Samadhan program supports integrated farming systems to improve farmers livelihoods.
