To foster scientific curiosity, the company has established four STEM laboratories in Udaipur and Pantnagar, developed 26 model schools, and renovated 10 schools to create better learning environments.

Empowering Young Minds Through Higher Education

Hindustan Zinc’s Udaan programme has opened pathways for talented students from rural and tribal communities to pursue higher education at India’s premier institutions. So far, 150 students have secured admission to reputed engineering and government colleges, including IITs. Impressively, 32 graduates have been placed in top organisations, with an average annual package of ₹10 lakh and the highest reaching ₹21 lakh, underscoring the programme’s focus on excellence and mentorship.

Jeevan Tarang: Inclusion and Empowerment for Special Needs Children

Launched in 2017, Jeevan Tarang promotes inclusion and empowerment for children with special needs. The initiative has benefited over 2,600 children through Indian Sign Language awareness sessions, mental health and hygiene workshops, and pre-vocational training aimed at boosting independence and confidence. In Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Udaipur, the programme ensures equal access to education and opportunities for children of all abilities.

Nand Ghar: Transforming Early Childhood and Women’s Development

Anil Agarwal Foundation’s flagship initiative, Nand Ghar, developed in partnership with ICDS, is transforming traditional Anganwadis into modern centres of learning and empowerment. These centres are built on four key pillars — nutrition, education, healthcare, and women empowerment. Equipped with digital learning tools, solar energy, safe drinking water, and health facilities, the centres also offer skill development opportunities for women.

Across Hindustan Zinc’s operational areas, around 2,000 Nand Ghars are positively impacting 3.7 lakh women and children, promoting early childhood development, healthy mothers, and empowered rural communities.

Nurturing Talent Through Sports: Zinc Football Academy

Recognising sports as a key driver of youth development, Hindustan Zinc established the Zinc Football Academy in Zawar, RAJASTHAN — the state’s first residential football academy. The academy has trained over 3,250 young athletes, many of whom have gone on to represent their district, state, and country, contributing to Rajasthan’s growing sporting excellence.

Leadership Commitment

Commenting on the company’s education initiatives, Arun Misra, CEO and Whole-Time Director of Hindustan Zinc, said:

“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream without limitations. At Hindustan Zinc, our education programmes go beyond classrooms — they aim to build curiosity, confidence, and competence. On the occasion of Education Day and Children’s Day, I urge everyone to empower young minds who will shape India’s future through knowledge, skills, and inclusivity.”

Hindustan Zinc’s sustained efforts in education and youth development reflect its deep commitment to community transformation. By integrating initiatives that focus on early learning, higher education, and inclusion, the company is creating a lasting social impact — ensuring that every child has the tools to realise their full potential.
