The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a significant boost for women across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday confirmed that under the popular Ladli Behna Yojana, eligible women will now receive ₹1,500 per month as financial assistance. The move is aimed at enhancing women’s empowerment and financial independence.
This marks an increase of ₹250 from the current assistance of ₹1,250 per month. The new rate will be implemented from Diwali 2025 (October).
Chief Minister’s Announcement
During the announcement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said:
“Like last year, this time too an additional ₹250 will be given during Rakshabandhan (August 2025). From Diwali, the monthly assistance will be raised to ₹1,500.”
He further emphasized:
“Our top priority is to make our sisters self-reliant. The state government stands by them at every step. From Diwali onwards, ₹1,500 will be directly deposited into their bank accounts every month.”
This announcement has been welcomed warmly by women across the state, providing much-needed relief for monthly household expenses.
1.27 Crore Women Benefiting from the Scheme
As of now, 1.27 crore women (12.7 million) aged 21 to 60 years are benefiting from the Ladli Behna Yojana. Launched in March 2023 by the BJP government, the scheme was a key promise made during the 2023 Assembly Elections. The ruling party had committed to gradually increase the monthly assistance to ₹3,000.
Long-Term Commitment
Reiterating the government’s promise, Chief Minister Yadav stated:
“Our commitment is to eventually raise the assistance to ₹3,000 per month by 2028. The scheme began with ₹1,000, which was increased to ₹1,250, and now to ₹1,500. We are moving step-by-step toward that goal.”
The phased increase reflects the government’s focus on strengthening women’s financial security in the state.
What Is Ladli Behna Yojana?
Launched on 15 March 2023, Ladli Behna Yojana is a flagship social welfare program of the Madhya Pradesh government. It provides monthly financial support to married, widowed, and divorced women to help them lead a more dignified life.
The initiative started with ₹1,000 per month, was later revised to ₹1,250, and from Diwali 2025, it will become ₹1,500. The scheme is playing a critical role in empowering women, especially in rural and economically weaker sections of society.
Conclusion
With this announcement, the Madhya Pradesh government has reaffirmed its focus on women’s welfare and economic empowerment. The phased approach to increasing financial assistance under Ladli Behna Yojana is set to make a tangible difference in the lives of millions of women across the state.
