In a joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the High Representative of the European Union, the G7 expressed grave concern over the deteriorating security situation and called for maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan.

Call for Restraint and Dialogue

The statement emphasized that any further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors could pose a serious threat to regional stability. “We urge both India and Pakistan to avoid further military build-up and engage in direct dialogue,” the statement read.

The G7 also reiterated the importance of peace, diplomacy, and international cooperation in addressing terrorism and regional conflicts. The ministers called for steps to reduce tensions and build confidence between the two countries through open lines of communication.

International Backing for Counterterrorism

The G7 countries reaffirmed their commitment to combating global terrorism and supporting nations affected by violent extremism. “We stand in solidarity with the victims and with the people of India in their fight against terrorism,” the statement concluded.

The condemnation and the call for restraint come amid growing global attention on the ongoing tensions along the India-Pakistan border following India’s military response to the Pahalgam attack.
