Former Kerala min MP Govindan Nair passes away

Kottayam, April 13 : Former Kerala Health Minister and senior Congress leader Advocate MP Govindan Nair passed away due to age old illness at his residence at Muttambalam in this district on Wednesday. He was 91 and is survived by his wife Sarada Devi and daughter Sudha. He was a minister in the R Sankar ministry from 1962 to 1964. He also served as president of Travancore Devaswom Board from 2012 to 2015. Govindan Nair, former Director Board member of NSS, also held various political posts including Kottayam DCC president, member of KPCC and AICC. Several leaders including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader VD Satheesan, senior Congress leaders Oommen Chandy, AK Antony, Ramesh Chennithala, KC Venugopal condoled the demise of the senior politician.
