Dhaka, May 6 Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia returned to Dhaka today to a massive show of public support. Thousands of party workers and supporters lined the streets of the capital to welcome the 79-year-old leader, who had been in London for advanced medical treatment.

Khaleda Zia arrived in a special air ambulance arranged by the Qatari royal family, following a stopover in Doha. The aircraft took off last night from Heathrow Airport and is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport before noon today.

🛬 Return Amid Health Concerns

Khaleda Zia has been battling multiple chronic illnesses, including liver cirrhosis, cardiovascular issues, and kidney complications. She was accompanied by her daughters-in-law Zubaida Rahman and Sayeeda Shamila Rahman during her medical trip to the UK.

🧍‍♂️ Supporters Flood Streets of Dhaka

As news of her return spread, BNP supporters from across the country gathered in Dhaka to receive their leader. The road from the airport to her residence at Firoza in Gulshan was packed with people waving flags, chanting slogans, and holding posters in support of Khaleda Zia.

Law enforcement agencies have deployed tight security along the entire route to manage the crowd and ensure a smooth passage for the former premier’s motorcade.

📌 Khaleda Zia’s Political and Legal Journey

Khaleda Zia, a two-time former Prime Minister, has been largely absent from public political life in recent years due to serious health issues and legal troubles stemming from corruption cases. Despite this, she remains a symbolic and emotional figurehead for the BNP and its loyal base.

Her return to Bangladesh is seen as a highly charged political moment, especially ahead of future national developments and elections.
