Five Killed as Roof Collapses in Dargah Premises Near Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi

(Kiran News) – On Friday, five people lost their lives and one person was seriously injured after the roof of a room collapsed inside the Dargah Sharif Patte Shah premises near Humayun’s Tomb in Nizamuddin, Delhi.

According to DCP South-East Delhi, Dr. Hemant Tiwari, the identities of 11 injured persons have been established so far. Of these, nine have been admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre, while one each has been admitted to LNJP and RML hospitals.

Doctors at the AIIMS Trauma Centre declared five of the injured (two men and three women) dead. The deceased included men aged 79 and 35, and women aged 42, 40, and 40 years. The condition of the injured person brought to LNJP remains critical, while the others are stable and recovering.

The incident took place at 3:45 PM. Police responded immediately and began rescue operations. Personnel from Delhi Police, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and Fire Services were involved in the rescue and search efforts after the accident.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi Convenor, Saurabh Bharadwaj, stated that according to locals, rain and water accumulation around 4 PM may have caused the roof to collapse. He posted on X that nearly 30 people have lost their lives in similar incidents in the last three months, but the government is not taking action. Bharadwaj expressed grief over the repeated accidents during rainfall in Delhi, urging the administration to take responsibility and for the Chief Minister to take direct action.
