Delhi Police & lawyers Standoff: Delhi HC to hear Centre’s plea today

Meanwhile, scores of angry lawyers gathered outside the district courts in Rohini and Saket on Wednesday, a day after Delhi Police personnel laid an 11-hour siege outside the Police Headquarters.

Earlier in the day, Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and other top officers met Delhi’s Lt Governor Anil Baijal at his residence.

Lt Governor had earlier said that it is imperative to restore trust between police and lawyers and also to ensure that justice is done impartially in the entire matter. 

Police protests were triggered by two attacks on their colleagues, one on Monday outside Saket District Court and another on Saturday at the Tis Hazari Courts Complex after a parking dispute between an on-duty policeman and a lawyer which led to at least 20 security personnel and several advocates being injured.Two FIRs were registered against unidentified persons.
