Cyclone ‘Maha’ weakens; PM Modi holds high level review meeting

Severe cyclonic storm ‘Maha’ may not hit the Gujarat coast and is likely to fizzle out into the Arabian sea as a ‘depression’ by Thursday evening. It would come as a big relief to the common people and administration if the latest prediction turns true.

IMD said ‘Maha’ is “very likely” to skirt the Saurashtra coast. The weakened ‘Maha’ will still bring rains in some parts of Gujarat on Thursday. The wind speed will remain around 65 to 70 kms per hour.

While Cyclone Maha is continuously weakening in Arabian Sea, on the other hand Cyclone Bulbul is steadily gathering intensity in Bay of Bengal and is predicted to move towards West Bengal. The IMD has forecast rainfall over coastal Odisha from 9th November and it may have less effect on Odisha.

A clear picture of the cyclone Bulbul will be available after 8th November. The Special disaster Relief teams have geared up to tackle the any eventuality arising out due to cyclone Bulbul.

PM Modi held a high level review meeting in Delhi on Tuesday where he took stock of the preparedness in the wake of Cyclone Maha and Bulbul.
