Cold Wave Intensifies Across Gujarat, Amreli Records 8 Degrees Celsius
Ahmedabad, January 16 : Despite the conclusion of Uttarayan (Makar Sankranti), the cold wave continues to grip Gujarat. Over the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures have dropped by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, compelling residents to rely on bonfires for warmth. While Naliya traditionally records the lowest temperatures in the state, Rajkot and Amreli are now experiencing the coldest conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, this trend is expected to persist for the next four days.

Significant Temperature Drops Across Gujarat
The western disturbance has significantly impacted both minimum and maximum temperatures across the state. While temperatures initially rose by 4 degrees in northern, central, and southern Gujarat, a sudden drop of 3 to 4 degrees in the past 24 hours has intensified the chill.

Ahmedabad experienced a 4-degree drop, with the minimum temperature recorded at 12.2°C. Vadodara reported 17.2°C, while Surat recorded 16.3°C.

Weather Forecast
The Meteorological Department reports that the average temperature in the second week of January usually hovers around 12.8°C but has now dipped by 2 to 3 degrees. Over the next four days, minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 10°C, while maximum temperatures will stay near 28°C. Wind speeds are predicted to range between 15 to 20 km/h, maintaining the current cold conditions.
Relief from the cold is expected once the maximum temperature crosses 30°C. Until then, the chill will likely persist, and residents are advised to take precautions.
