BJP has launched a scathing attack on Congress for misleading the nation on NPA issue asking it to answer over the substantial increase in NPAs under the UPA rule. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that on 16 May 2014 when UPA had lost the general elections, the outgoing Finance Minister P. Chidambaram cleared 80-20 benefit to Mehul Choksi’s company, Geetanjali Gems.
Probe agencies are looking for Choksi in connection with multi-billion PNB scam in which diamond jeweller Nirav Modi is also wanted. The union minister said that said that the policies of UPA government prevented corrected figures from reflecting into the banking records.
He said that UPA’s policies derailed the banking system.The Union Minister said that Congress party is anti-reform and doesn’t like technology as it brings transparency. He slammed Congress for spreading lies and deceit.
