The wall’s demolition also helped to put an end to the Cold War between both west and East Germany. The borders were opened which divided the country for decades. Since then the segments of the Wall have been sent off around the world as state gifts and tourists visiting Berlin.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo unveiled a statue of the late, former President Ronald Reagan at the U.S. Embassy in Germany.
Pompeo said that he had no regrets about the demise of Communist East Germany but also warned that there was still authoritarianism in the world.
