Great news for FASTag users across India — starting this year, toll travel is about to get much cheaper! The central government is launching an Annual FASTag Pass, which will allow frequent travellers to cross toll plazas for as little as ₹15 per trip.
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently shared this major update via social media, announcing that the new Annual FASTag Pass scheme will roll out from 15 August 2025.
How the New FASTag Pass Works
Under this new scheme, users will be able to make 200 toll journeys with a one-time payment of ₹3,000 for the entire year. If you do the math, that works out to just ₹15 per toll — a huge savings compared to the regular ₹50 or more typically charged at toll plazas.
For frequent travellers — including daily commuters, transporters, and highway users — this can lead to significant savings. Normally, crossing 200 toll plazas in a year would cost around ₹10,000. With the Annual FASTag Pass, you’ll spend just ₹3,000 — a potential saving of up to ₹7,000 per year!
How to Activate the Annual FASTag Pass
Activating the pass is simple:
First, your vehicle and FASTag eligibility will be verified.
After successful verification, you can purchase the pass by paying ₹3,000 for 2025-26 through the Highway Yatra mobile app or the NHAI website.
Once payment is complete, the Annual FASTag Pass will be activated on your registered FASTag.
Important: Vehicle Registration Number Required
It’s important to note that you cannot activate an Annual Pass on a FASTag that is only registered with a chassis number. To activate the pass, your FASTag must be updated with the correct Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
Why This is a Game-Changer for Highway Users
With India’s national highways getting busier every year, this new Annual FASTag Pass is set to provide a big financial benefit to daily commuters, logistics companies, and anyone who frequently uses toll roads.
Besides the direct cost savings, the scheme is expected to encourage even more adoption of FASTag — helping to further streamline toll collection, reduce traffic congestion at plazas, and support the government’s mission of creating seamless digital road travel experiences.
Stay tuned for more updates as the official launch date of 15 August approaches!
