Centre Convenes All-Party Meeting Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions
New Delhi, May 8 Following the Indian Army’s successful execution of Operation Sindoor, a high-level all-party meeting has been convened in the national capital today to deliberate on the operation’s aftermath and Pakistan’s heightened ceasefire violations. The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and will include key figures such as Home Minister Amit Shah and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.

The meeting aims to brief opposition leaders on India’s strategic military move and the current security situation along the Line of Control (LoC). The government’s outreach comes at a critical juncture when national unity and coordinated political messaging are vital.
Rahul Gandhi, Other Party Leaders Expected to Attend
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is expected to participate in the closed-door session. Leaders from several opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), have also been invited.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the meeting via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasizing the need for national consensus on key issues of security and defence. He wrote, “The central government has called a meeting of all parties in New Delhi on May 8 to discuss national security.”
Operation Sindoor: A Decisive Blow to Terrorist Infrastructure
The government’s recent military action, dubbed Operation Sindoor, targeted nine terrorist hideouts inside Pakistan on the night of May 6, marking one of the most significant Indian responses in recent years. As per intelligence inputs, a considerable number of militants are believed to have been neutralized.
Pakistan has acknowledged casualties on its soil, which has intensified diplomatic and military tensions between the two nations. Sources indicate that the airstrike was in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where Indian and foreign tourists were targeted.
Ceasefire Violations and Diplomatic Fallout
In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has reportedly increased ceasefire violations along the LoC, triggering a sharp response from Indian forces. Military observers note a significant uptick in cross-border firing and troop movement, further escalating tensions in the region.
Government sources assert that the meeting is not only intended to brief opposition leaders but also to signal unified political resolve against cross-border terrorism and state-sponsored extremism. Political parties across the spectrum have expressed support for the armed forces and the government’s counter-terrorism measures.
